As the mosaic of Canadian workforce changes with rapid pace – a lot of companies have started to blow the horn on diversity and its potential benefits. And true it is….”Real” diversity has many benefits.
My argument is that diversity has several benefits to an organization but one should try and understand how these benefits can be truly realized.
To me the key benefit of diversity is “thought and mindset” diversity And not just gender and race diversity – where one has the ability to think different from the flock.
As companies talk about diversity and they want to reap benefits of that – they should take a good look at the different layers of management and how diverse they are – further more diversity has to be respected in all forms and not limited to just one or two forms of diversity. True diversity and its ensuing benefits will only come from when a company or team has thought diversity and have institutionalized this in all forms of decision making.
